This tree is the impetus for the story of Monoluminant, a comic series that will see publication through Ape entertainment later this year. It is from a dvd about the environmental installation artist Andy Goldsworthy entitled "Rivers and Tides". The tree was just a quick shot, a transition between two scenes, but when i saw it i somehow pictured the knots on the trunk as the faces of witches, imprisoned in the tree...
...and came up with this. So here is an early sketch of my version of the tree, along with the main character of the book..more on him later.
